House of Bid

What Bid now, Raise, and max bid mean

Bid now places the opening amount when nobody has bid yet. Once a bid stands, Raise places the next increment. A max bid is a private ceiling: the house bids the minimum needed to keep you winning, up to that amount. Other paddles never see your ceiling.

When should I use Bid now?

Use Bid now on a lot with no standing bid. It places the published start. If you are already winning, Bid now and Raise hide so you cannot raise the visible price against yourself.

What is a max bid for?

Set a ceiling you are willing to pay. The engine places the smallest bid that keeps you ahead, up to that ceiling. If someone exceeds it, you are outbid. Raise max bid is how you lift a ceiling while you are winning.

Can I type a custom amount?

Yes, when you are not the standing bidder. The amount must meet the next increment. Floor lots are clerked in ops — the public web panel will not take a floor bid.

Questions

Is a max bid the same as a snipe?

No. A max bid works for the whole clock. A last-two-minutes bid still extends the lot.

Will other bidders see my max?

No. They see the standing bid, not your ceiling.
