Ask the same questions of each company
What should I ask every company?
Write the same list for each conversation so you are comparing the same work. Ask who photographs, who holds the money, when you are paid, and who is in the house during preview and pickup.
Do they keep the sale in the house?
House of Bid companies photograph lots in the rooms and run a timed catalog here. Warehouse companies haul contents off-site. Those are different jobs. Ask which walk they actually do.
Will there be a catalog I can send people?
A timed House of Bid catalog lets family and bidders preview lots before the clock. A walk-through weekend with no lots is a different product. Ask to see a recent housed sale, not a brochure.
How do they run preview in a private home?
House of Bid recommends one visitor at a time, or valuables in a closed room. That is a recommendation, not a law and not legal advice. Ask the company what they do in your house.

- Can I run the sale myself instead?
- Yes. Post an Event or Yard on Sell. Public prices stay on Pricing. Hiring a company is optional.
- How is this different from Auction houses?
- Auction houses on /houses are catalogs you bid on. This page is operators you hire to run an in-home estate. A company may later house catalogs here too.
- How does a company get listed?
